About Dad Who Asked Why

I’m Milton — a single dad, an inventive home cook, and a man who learned very quickly that when your child’s health is on the line, silence is not an option. When Junior was diagnosed with insulin‑related challenges, our world shifted overnight. Suddenly every meal, every label, every routine became a question. And every question led to another one.

This blog was born from that moment — the moment I realised that asking “why” is not a sign of doubt, but a form of protection.

Dad Who Asked Why is my ongoing record of raising Junior with intention, curiosity, and courage. It’s a space where I share the things I wish someone had told me:

- the recipes we’ve adapted to fit his needs

- the small victories and the hard days

- the lessons I’ve learned as a single father

- the gaps in the system that parents are forced to navigate

- the hope that keeps us moving forward

But this isn’t just a personal diary. It’s advocacy in plain language. It’s a call for clearer information, healthier food environments, and systems that actually support families instead of overwhelming them. It’s a reminder that parents deserve transparency, dignity, and the confidence to challenge the answers that don’t make sense.

If you’re a parent walking a similar path — confused, tired, determined, or all three — I want you to know you’re not alone. If you’re a policymaker, educator, or health professional, I hope these stories help you see the lived reality behind the data.

I’m not a perfect dad. I’m a present one. And I’m committed to asking the questions that matter, even when the answers are uncomfortable.

Welcome to our journey.

Welcome to The Dad Who Asked Why.
