Cooking Our Way Through Change

Series Introduction

There are journeys you choose, and journeys that choose you. Ours began with a doctor’s appointment, a list of forbidden foods, and a child who just wanted to be like everyone else. No pasta. No rice. No bread. No pap. No fruit. No cold drinks. No condiments. No peanut butter. No shortcuts.

Just protein. Olive oil. Avocado oil. Salted butter. And a father trying to figure out how to turn restrictions into meals, and meals into moments of hope.

We learned about spinach noodles. We learned how to make flavour without sugar. We learned that a child’s anger is often just fear wearing a louder voice. And we learned that progress doesn’t always show up on the scale — sometimes it shows up in a swimming pool, or in a leg lifted high after a bath.

This series is the story of that journey.

The recipes that saved us.

The emotions that nearly broke us.

The victories that rebuilt us.

And the lifelong path we’re walking — not toward perfection, but toward health, dignity, and understanding.

Every post is from me, a dad who didn’t have all the answers, but kept asking “why” until the answers came.
